zach

Zach is from a small town in Stryker, Ohio, with a population of less than 2,000. His experience at Michigan has been marked by his socioeconomic status, as well as his decision to come out to his parents. Living in a small, conservative town results in a lot of backlash towards the gay community. Zach talks about his struggle to fit in financially on campus, but sexually at home.

Since coming to Michigan, Zach has become very involved and aware of his socioeconomic status. In addition to discussing his sexuality, Zach is part of a student group that is working towards creating a new major within the Women’s Studies Department revolving around classist systems, the “tiers of social class”, and institutional diversity of socioeconomic status.
